It’s Christmas and the children in this house in France are caught up in the magic of the season and are laying a table for a festive tea. The candelabra is covered in olive branches and decorated with white stars and pink baubles.

‘Multi White’ table
Go Modern’s range of dining tables in wood, glass or lacquer includes this ‘Multi’ (so named because it can be assembled in different ways) by the Portuguese company Tema. It’s also available with round brushed steel legs or square chrome legs, as well as a version in wood.
Welded steel chair
Harry Bertoia, an Italian artist, sculptor and modern furniture designer created this wire chair in 1952 as part of the Bertoia Collection for Knoll. It’s handmade and moulded from a network of welded steel. Bertoia commented: ‘If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes through them.’ They are still made under license, and available from Chaplins. If you don’t mind a copy, this version from Beautiful Modern Thing is only £95.
Jim Lawrence pan holder
It tooks us hours to source a similar ceiling fitting. We tried all the lighting companies and forges we know of, and then found that Jim Lawrence makes hand-forged pan holders in a lovely range of colours which could be used to the same effect. In fact, they promptly made a double one for us and decorated it! They come in a range of standard sizes but you could also order one in any size and finish and with or without hooks.
Junkers wooden floor
Junckers offers over 100 different timber floors in standard and wide boards, in many finishes. Their unique ‘Clip System’ makes it simple to lay a floor onto an existing surface. They are durable and require little maintenance. Pictured is the Wide Board Oak, from £87/m2.
Paper stars
These simple paper star decorations come in a set of three for £18.95 from Pale & Interesting. See Posh Graffiti for wooden versions in natural, white and gold, at £5.50 each.
Beaded Christmas stars
Also similar to those in our image are these double-sided beaded stars (these come with a tealight holder inside). Really pretty for parties or winter weddings as they sparkle when they reflect the light. 16x19cm, £10.95 from Nordic House.
Byzantine glass drops
These translucent ‘Byzantine glass drops’ would also look lovely here. They are hand-blown by artisans in the Middle East and can be used indoors or outdoors. £7.50 each from Summerill & Bishop.
