Lewis & Wood unveiled their most innovative collection to date at London Design week. Three talented artists – Melissa White, Flora Roberts and Su Daybell – were given the freedom to create a collection, and the result is ‘English Ethnic’. There are six distinctive designs which have been turned into fabrics and wallpapers in their Gloucestershire studio under the guidance of creative director Magdalen Jebb.
From left to right: Melissa White, known for her Elizabethan wall paintings and painted cloths, decorative muralist Flora Roberts, and artist and interior decorator Su Daybell.
Flora Roberts has created the classically beautiful DOVES (above) and SIKA (below), an unusual and striking paper featuring a deer motif which can be printed in various dimensions. Flora’s painting has a lyrical peaceful quality that is instantly appealing. Doves wallpaper – £56.40 per m; Doves linen – £76.80 per m; Sika wallpaper – price on application.
Melissa White’s inspiration comes from her fascination and scholarly understanding of Elizabethan wall painting. Her contribution to the collection includes the highly detailed BACCHUS (above) which displays her passion for ornate pattern and embellishment. Bacchus wallpaper – £56.40 per m; Bacchus linen – £91.80 per m.
A talented artist, Su Daybell has created the bold and breath taking WOMAD (above) as well as a most unlikely Lewis & Wood wallpaper called FORCE 9 (below) which demands that you sit up and pay attention!
Womad Wallpaper – £56.40; fabric – £250 per 3 m panel; Force 9 wallpaper – £141 per 3.4 m panel.
