To mark the opening of their new London showroom, fabric company Lewis & Wood have launched two new designs celebrating English country life, ‘Royal Oak’ and ‘Lamorna Cove’, by the talented Cotswold wood engraver Andrew Davidson. The designs are cut into wood in a painstaking and time-consuming process. The original artwork is then enlarged by the Lewis & Wood creative studio and silk-screen printed.
Lamorna Cove (on the right, with the original wood block) is an underwater Toile featuring seals, seahorses, fish and seaweed. It comes in five chalky colours which work well with the Lewis & Wood palette.
‘Royal Oak’ is a large scale Toile design which comes in two colourways. Named after the fugitive King Charles II taking refuge in an oak tree, it features a classic English landscape, with the spire of St Mary’s Church Tetbury, the River Avon and birds and animals.
Andrew Davidson has also designed this new set of tea towels, Seascape, based on his engravings for Lamorna Cove. They are available to buy online at £10 each or £27 for a set of three.
