Happy Blondes

Adam and Clare Gilchrist of Veedon Fleece have re-interpreted this 1951 textile design by Wendy Bray, who graduated in 1951, Festival of Britain year, and a time when all things Scandinavian, especially Danish furniture, were the peak of chic. Her design, which she called ‘Scandi Girls’ has now become an elegant carpet, and thanks to Veedon Fleece’s support, she is enjoying a revival of interest in her work (see also the feature in World of Interiors this month).

Veedon Fleece’s handwoven, handspun and hand-dyed ‘Happy Blondes’ rug, in a mixture of silk and wool. £860 per square metre. Veedon Fleece produces hand knotted bespoke carpets, in the highest quality natural wools, silks and cashmere.  They work closely with architects and interior designers to produce one-off ‘couture’ designs for exacting clients, including many ‘big names’.
