Tucked away in Vigo Street in Mayfair, is a Grade I listed townhouse which is the flagship showroom of luxury leather specialist ALMA. The company, founded in 1938, built its reputation in the fashion industry and is known today for its luxurious custom-made leather interior finishes, furniture and furnishings as well as bespoke leather accessories.

Every surface in the showroom is leather-clad and tactile: from exquisite leather doors, floors and panelling, to staircases, handrails, furniture, and even light switches.  ALMA‘s aim is to show the craftsmanship of their specialist team and inspire clients with their imaginative and cutting-edge techniques. The company has  over 100 different types of leather to choose from at any one time, and these can also be hand-stitched, hand-painted or embossed to create the effect of shagreen, python, ostrich, crocodile and many more.

ALMA has just launched the Equestrian Collection, a range of hand-made leather sofas and chairs in neutral leather combined with subtle checked fabrics. It’s all made in their Whitechapel workshop, and each piece is bespoke, created to suit individual specifications, from choice of leather and finish, to colour, style and size.

The company is divided into three areas of expertise: Alma Studio works with interior designers and specifiers to create bespoke leather finishes; Alma Home produces handmade leather furniture and accessories; Alma Leather sources the finest leathers from across the world.
