Charles Edwards has just created a replica of a chandelier 2.8 metres (9ft 3in) high, originally made for Kilruddery House in Ireland.  The original chandelier was bought by Charles Edwards and is now hanging in Beverley Hills.  The intricate 15-piece mould that was created from it has been used to make a perfect replica which weighs more than 300kg. It’s on sale for £125,000.  It is unlikely that any more copies will ever be made unless the buyer specifically wants a pair.

The Kilruddery Colza Chandelier is remarkable even by Charles Edwards’ standards (he has created some of the finest chandeliers and lanterns in the world):  ‘In all my years of dealing with antique lighting, this is one of the most handsome chandeliers I have come across,’ says Charles Edwards. ‘Its scale and design also make it one of the most challenging jobs that we’ve embarked on – taking a team of highly talented craftsmen five months to complete.  I love it and anyone passing our showroom at 575 King’s Road can see it in our window.’

Charles Edwards launched his business selling antique furniture and lighting in 1992, at 582 King’s Road, London. When the renowned American interior designer, David Easton, asked Charles to replicate one of his lanterns it heralded the start of the design and manufacturing side of the business.

Today, Charles Edwards has an exclusive collection of over 400 designs inspired by 19th and 20th century English, French and American fixtures – from Gothic to Mid-Century modern. With a focus on authenticity and quality, all designs are available in a wide range of hand finishes and any paint colour. Customization is also available on the size of fixtures, with some lanterns being more than 2m tall.
