Ruup & Form | Exhibition | The Walls Speak in Flowers
About Ruup & Form
Founded in 2019 by Varuna Kollanethu, Ruup & Form is a contemporary London gallery working at the intersection of art, craft and design. The gallery champions museum quality work by established and emerging artists whose practices explore materiality, culture and the evolving relationship between fine art and collectible design.
Through a programme of thoughtfully curated exhibitions, commissions and educational events, Ruup & Form provides a platform for artists pushing the boundaries of contemporary making. Each exhibition invites visitors to engage with craftsmanship, experimentation and the stories behind the work.

This summer, Ruup & Form presents The Walls Speak in Flowers, a collective exhibition by the artists of Common Clay. Bringing together ceramic sconces and wall pockets, the exhibition explores how creativity grows through collaboration, conversation and shared making.
Rather than focusing on individual artistic voices alone, the exhibition celebrates the creative relationships that shape a thriving community. Installed throughout the gallery, the ceramic works become vessels for light, flowers and dialogue, transforming the space into a landscape that reflects both individual practice and collective endeavour.

Ruup & Form’s relationship with Common Clay began through gallery artist Carla Wright, whose practice embodies the values of generosity, curiosity and shared learning. Through this connection, the gallery was introduced to a wider network of ceramic artists whose distinct approaches to clay are united by a culture of experimentation and mutual support.

“Making can often appear solitary, but it is rarely done alone. Every piece carries traces of conversations, shared discoveries and acts of generosity exchanged between makers. This exhibition celebrates the invisible threads that connect a community of artists and the shared environment that continues to nurture and inspire our work,” says Carla Wright, Founder and Member of Common Clay.
As a shared ceramics studio, Common Clay is built on the exchange of knowledge, techniques and ideas. Conversations that begin at one workbench continue across the studio, enriching each artist’s practice and demonstrating that while making can appear solitary, it is often deeply collaborative.

Taking its title from the resilience and persistence of growth, The Walls Speak in Flowers reflects on the invisible threads that connect artists, materials and creative communities. The ceramic sconces and wall pockets become symbolic forms that hold light, flowers and traces of human connection, inviting visitors to experience a living conversation between craft, design and contemporary art.
