Where can I look online for a contemporary designer desk that has a vintage look?
If you are looking for a 1960s design (and by this I imagine design classics, i.e. Charles & Ray Eames) look at Domain and Chaplins. They are agents for many companies, including Knoll and Vitra, which are licensed to reproduce design classics.
Do also have a look at Sasha Waddell’s ‘Utility’ range. It’s very well designed and can look good in both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Otherwise, have a scroll down the Contemporary Furniture and the Furniture Makers sections on our website. Davidson have a wonderful desk in their range in ebony and macassar and Soane have some very unusual desk designs in their range. As every piece is made to meet your material, colour and size requirements they can be entirely flexible. (Image Davidson)
I would like to install a wine cellar and was wondering if you could recommend a company that might be able to help.
Wild Grapes specialises in made-to-measure, aluminium modular systems (costed at about £3.50 per bottle) or bespoke systems made in steel (about £8 per bottle). They begin by asking for dimensions and images of the area you want to convert to a wine cellar, and can then arrange a site visit if you wish to proceed. If you are interested in a timber cellar you might try Sorrells.
We are putting a cedar roof on our conservatory with a tongue & groove wood ceiling on the interior. I would like to create a clapboard hut look and wondered if anyone sells tongue & groove ready- painted in a pale whitewashed style? It would have to be a light-weight wood.
We have been in contact with James Mayor Furniture and they can help with your enquiry. Most suppliers of tongue & groove panelling are timber merchants and they provide the boards unfinished, in standard lengths. James Mayor offers tongue & groove, 'Shaker' & 'Victorian' panelling in kit form; the company also offers a bespoke service to tailor make the type of interior joinery you are after.
Where can I find a long-handled feather duster for a vaulted barn conversion?
The inspirational kitchen shop Summerill & Bishop has an online store with a selection of utility and laundry products, including this telescopic, extending ostrich feather duster (£45), which is ideal for awkward nooks and high ceilings.
I have missed the Maison & Objet Fair in Paris and need to find alternative interior design fairs. Could you make any recommendations for UK fairs?
If you click on the Design Diary button on our home page you will find a link to listings for Interior Design and Garden shows throughout the UK. You might also want to sign up for our monthly newsletter, as upcoming events which might be of interest to you will also be featured here, under 'This Month Don't Miss'.
