Long Island dining room

This dining room is in Dan MacDonald and Gregg Kaminsky’s weekend house on Long Island. The zinc-topped dining table is surrounded by antique chairs. The rustic console table behind it supports two large ceramic centrepieces.

The chairs shown in our main image are antique, but Sasha Waddell’s Katerina dining chairs are remarkably similar. They are available painted in a choice of ten colours.

This garden refectory table is from the extensive range of indoor and outdoor furniture and kitchen cabinetry by Kit Stone. The table could be painted to match the one in the dining room featured.

Dezinc are specialist fabricators of zinc surfaces and will manufacture anything in zinc to order. Zinc metal comes in sheets approximately 240cm long x 85cm wide. You could commission a table top like the one pictured which could then be screwed to the table base from underneath, so that the screws would be invisible. Dezinc ship anywhere in the world.

This mirror from Dormy House is very similar to the one in our main image. It’s their ‘Clifton’ mirror, available in shades of white and made to any size.  Dormy House’s range includes upholstered seating, headboards, furniture and accessories in standard or bespoke sizes, supplied painted in Ivory, White, Stone, French Grey or ‘bare’.

The ‘Folding Campaign Refectory Table’ is a simple, two plank table top supported over a pair of trestle legs with a-frame stretchers, designed to fold into the underside of the table. It’s 250 cm wide x 91cm deep x 79 cm high from Rose Uniacke.

Katherine North Design’s collection of French oak furniture and lamps includes this console table with hand-turned  legs (£1,350). Her pieces bear the natural cracking that occurs during the turning process.

The rug in this room was created by California-based interior designer Kathleen Clements, who also designs rugs for a US company called Woven Accents. Turkish vintage patchwork rugs are one of their  specialities.

Interior Supply in Chelsea Harbour offer a stunning range of contemporary rugs including ‘Mystic’, (pictured here), soft and warm underfoot and very similar in feel to the vintage Turkish patchwork ones.

We’ve hunted for china vessels like the ones pictured to no avail; but OKA‘s fantastic range of decorative accessories includes this ‘Pradesh’ lidded pot made from Paulownia wood which has a very distinctive grain.  This is the largest of the three sizes (17 x 17 x 48 cm) – it costs £99.
