Holkham Linseed Paint

Linseed oil paint, which was first used in the 1700s, is enjoying a revival.

A natural and environmentally-friendly method of protecting wood, it is also easy to use and durable, lasting, on average, 10 to 15 years before it needs to be re-painted. Paint & Paper are the only distributors in the UK for Viscount Coke’s Holkham Linseed Paint, made in Sweden by a company called Allbäck.  The paint is made from natural 100% pure linseed oil, and does not contain any solvents, toxins or preservatives.

The paint is suitable for use on external joinery, interiors and furniture, internal doors, metal, windows and wooden floors. You can use the same paint for primer, undercoat and topcoat. Available in thirty different shades and in 100ml sample pots, 1 and 3 litre tins.

And we just had to show you this pretty church in Mörrums in Sweden, painted in these linseed paints (from the inspiration pages of the Allbäck website).

  1. Hi Alwyn, I believe Holkham are now called Allback Linseed Oil Paint. This company seems to stock the paint: Sweedish Linseed Paint
