Nicholas Engert has developed the concept of Fourth Dimension Lighting to emphasise the importance that light plays in interior design, architecture and landscape design. He aims for lighting that is discreet, glare-free and layered to produce different effects and moods whilst recognising the importance that shadows and daylight play in the overall design. Nicholas Engert will work on one room or an entire house and will incorporate control systems for dimming and scene setting if required. Based in Berkshire the company carries out commissions in London and southern England working for both private clients, designers and builders.
The Nicholas Engert collections include classically modern fabrics, all designed and printed or woven in England. Geometric prints in fresh clean colours on cotton or linen cloth. Woven fabrics include plains, jacquards, stripes and tartans in a range of wonderful colours which can be used to complement the geometric print designs. The woven textiles of Johanna Gullichsen of Finland are represented by Nicholas Engert in the UK and these include jacquards inspired by the colours of Venice (The Loom Collection) and a collection of geometric jacquards some of which are double weave, suitable for domestic and contract use.
The Nicholas Engert collections include a small collection of lamps that are classically inspired and handmade in England by craftsmen. Using excellent materials and taking great care to get the details and proportions correct these lamps have a timeless feel. Available as either a timber finish - principally oak - or a painted finish and supplied with an empire shade these lamps retain a classical and handsome look.
