Ilamon Thangkhiew is a London and India based textile designer and maker whose work weaves together storytelling, heritage and nature. A graduate of the Royal College of Art and the National Institute of Design, she explores folk narratives and the natural world through woven textiles and surface design. Her process is deeply hands-on, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary expression. Rooted in her Khasi heritage, Ilamon works closely with artisans in Meghalaya, preserving ancestral skills while uplifting local craft communities. Through Studio Ila, she creates both ready-made and bespoke textiles for interiors, surfaces and installations that connect design with place and meaning.
