The Silk Gallery was established in 1989 by Kathryn Thompson who designs and sources her own fabrics and ensures that all manufacture is undertaken in the UK. Timeless classical themes have always been the inspiration for the designs. The core fabric used is silk but the company has developed yarn combinations (silk with linen, cotton or polyester) that enhance both durability and the natural characteristics of silk. A major part of the work undertaken is on bespoke commissions, including working closely with customers or their interior designers creating custom-coloured fabrics. There's also a complementary range of trimmings. The Silk Gallery Collection can now be seen at the Tissus d’Helene showroom at The Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. Enquiries an cutting requests should be sent to info@thesilkgallery.com. The collection continues to be updated with the new Spring Collection 2020 “Exotic” on view at the Harbour.

Tissus d'Helene is a haven for textiles, trimmings and wallpapers produced in the British Isles, France, Belgium, Italy, India and America, created by designers whose belief is to maintain the highest standards in their craft. There are many prints, some traditional and others more modern, inspired by European, Ottoman, Persian, and Indian design. There are others such as John Stefanidis, Alan Campbell and China Seas whose timeless geometric designs from the 70s and earlier are still printed to order. There are beautiful linen weaves and velvets as well as Italian and English silks, appliqué and hand embroidery. Since many of these textiles are printed, woven or embroidered to order, they offer a bespoke service for many of the collections.
