Two giant wooden sculptures dominate the dining room cleverly located by the large windows in this contemporary mountain chalet in Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.

Can you help?  We sent this image to an expert in tribal art at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. who did not recognize the carved wood forms but thought they could originate from Madagascar, Ethiopia or Southern Sudan. We also sent the image to a collector in New Zealand (could they be Maori or Polynesian?) and she was unable to place them. We’re still searching for an answer…

Stone flooring from Paris CeramicsThe flooring in our chalet image looks like ‘Antique Blonde Barr’, which has been quarried since the 17th century in the Lanquedoc region of France. These large flagstones are laid in coursed lengths and in random sizes in varying tones of golden beige. Paris Ceramics is one of the few companies that is able to consistently supply this type of antique stone.
