Expertise
OCHRE collaborates with local artisans renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to preserving traditional skills. By blending centuries-old techniques with modern technology, the brand optimises energy efficiency and reduces waste. A made-to-order production model, offered in select finishes, eliminates overproduction and lowers the carbon footprint typically associated with warehousing. Eco-friendly upholstery fillings — a natural alternative to petroleum-based foam — are the preferred choice, utilising advanced, high-performance algae-based technology.
OCHRE’s designs are inspired by the innate beauty of natural materials and a deep respect for traditional hand-forming techniques. The collection’s striking yet timeless elegance is achieved through each design’s unique story, craftsmanship, and materials. Each piece is intimately connected to the shared earth and is intended to last a lifetime. OCHRE pieces are crafted from FSC-approved woods, by-product leathers and horn, bronze, glass, porcelain, and natural fibres. The brand’s commitment to sustainability begins at the drawing board and extends through long-standing partnerships with like-minded artisans, encompassing every touchpoint of distribution.
The OCHRE WILD Collection features naturally dyed rugs crafted in Bengal using centuries-old techniques. Each rug is meticulously handwoven — from yarn making and dyeing to intricate weaving and finishing. OCHRE utilises a rich variety of fibres and natural dyes for both its Indo-Tibetan and flatweave Dhurrie rugs, creating harmonious colours and textures across every painterly piece. Each rug is unique, sustainably created and intimately connected to the shared earth.
