Soane was founded by Lulu Lytle and Christopher Hodsoll in response to the demand for architecturally inspired bespoke furniture and lighting. The company now makes over 250 pieces, all produced in Britain. As well as the copies of exceptional 18th, 19th & 20th century originals, their collection of furniture, lighting, door handles, glass and silverware also includes many new designs all made with the same meticulous attention to quality. The evolution of many of these pieces has been aided by requests from clients. Three generations of furniture makers designing and producing some of the finest hand-built upholstered sofas, loungers, chairs and ottomans available in their Cotswold workshops. Each hand-stitched item is manufactured with solid beech frames, wadding, webbing, coiled springs and plump feather and down filled cushions. There are a variety of styles to choose from, finished in calico, leather or a wide selection of fabrics. Stephen Perkins also designs and makes bespoke, hand-built upholstered furniture for top interior designers, including Fox Linton, Howe London and Jane Churchill. The fifth generation of the family is now at the helm, following a long line of Tustings who have been tanning, grading and trading the world's finest leathers for over 130 years. Their furniture is traditionally hand made, in England, using hand-selected hides and with great attention to every detail of the construction. The company only uses full-grain leather, aniline-dyed to give a rich deep colour and a warm touch. The result is leather furniture that burnishes and matures with use into classics of the future.
